Friday, October 23, 2009Get your Lancome gifts while they last :)![]() How often do you find yourself liking 2 out of the 7 gifts during beauty brands' gift with purchase events? Well well well, you cannot complain about this GWP event because you can CHOOSE!!! Like, actually picking the items that you need and forget about the rest that you do not need. No better time to get a sample of the Genifique concentrate than this GWP. It's a freakin 15ml!!! Half the size of the original!!! Do yourself a favor and go back to buy another product and get a second set of gifts. Make sure you get the Genifique concentrate^^~ with love, yours Kaila XOXO~ Labels: Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate, Gift with purchase events, Lancome, The Bay Thursday, October 22, 2009What goes on underneath it all?I need at least three months to study a product, decide on buying a product, trying the product and getting results (yes. . .both the good and the bad. . ) before I suggest it to my friends. This specific product, the widely advertised "ground-breaking" Lancome Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate, was too "beauty" forward to take any chances. Six months. I waited six months to release my personal comments because anything attached with the word "DNA" related is not to be taken lightly for. The results? One word: A for "Amazing". The only other skincare product that I would give an "Amazing" to is Estee Laudier Night Repair. I purchased Genifique in March ( after much consideration and research on my own part ) and the first time I used it, it surprised me as to how fast it is absorbed by the skin. It is NOT sticky ( comparing to some other concentrates), and anything else that goes on after is perfectly absorbed. 4 weeks into using Genifique, skin felt tighter and silkier, and at the same time the elasticity seemed to have increased. During the entire 6 months of using the product, I haven't encounter any irratition nor reverse results ( as the skin is getting use to one product, the product loses its effects on the skin and the skin slowly fades back into its original state before the product was used). I suppose this justifies spending close to $100 on a little bottle of 30ml magic potion. Better yet, put it on your wish list and see who is up for becoming your wish fairy. XOXO my lovelys. Cheers to your upcoming beautiful skin. Just to remind you lovelys that I have this terribly reactive skin that had put me through hell and back: Combination/Sensitve/Allergeric/Acne Prone. I have used these products without screaming in agony, I believe that must say something about these items. Try asking for a sample of these products at the beauty counters before committing to buying the full 200ml package. 1. Clarins One Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser: With orange extract, suitable for all skin types. I adore the fresh citrus fragrance, which wakes up my senses in the morning. The micro exfoliating beads are actually quite soft to the touch. My skin was smooth and clean after one use. I would suggest subsituting this into your routine a few times in the week to help clean away the chopped peeling skin that has been piling up from the winter season. 2. Clarins Bright Plus HP Repairing Brightening Night Cream: Although it says it is in a cream formula, I find this rather light, refreshing and nurishing to use. It moisturizes very well, and also helps to brighten your skin tone. I saw the difference in about one week. It definitely works. 3. Lancome Primordiale Eye Skin Recharge: The formula is light yet nurishing enough. Great to use as under eye makeup base because it smoothes out the dry fine lines around the area yet it is not sticky. 4. Lancome High Resolution with Collaser-48: It is a deep collagen anti wrinkle serum that I use it as a quick fix rather than a serum. The best way to prevent aging is to defend against aging before it even starts. However, becoming dependent on anti wrinkle products is not the best idea because they are expensive and it will hinder your skin's natural anti-aging abilities. I use this during days when I feel that I haven't been taking care of my skin well enough. My all time favorite anti-aging regiment is Vitamin C and Vitamin E: oranges and green tea. Yes, simple, but highly effective. 5. M.A.C Mineralize Skin Finish Natural Powder: I switched to this makeup product and I get to sleep in for at least 10 more mins. Enough time to finish my sweet dreams. First, conceal the under eye circles and other imprefections. Then take the mineral makeup brush, swipe some mineral powder, dusk it a little, and swirl onto your face in light circular motions. Start from the outside of the face and swirl inward. To set the makeup, I like to use a press powder sponge and press onto the face lightly. The makeup should last throughout the day. If facial oil appears, use a oil absorbing sheet and press onto the shiny oily areas LIGHTLY. Reapply press powder of your choice. Try to simplify your skin care routine during spring because you will need a few more things added to your summer skin care steps due to the fact that you might want to treat possible skin burns and moisturize your skin better, which lost of moisture from the skin may result from being in contact with too much sunlight. Sunscreen is NOT a form of moisturizer. It goes ON TOP of your moisturizer UNLESS if you use a moisturizer WITH sunscreen. Wait. . summer's not here yet. . .right. . . Labels: Clarins, Lancome, M.A.C Monday, March 2, 2009Fashion Review for Spring/Summer 2009![]() ![]() ![]() Making a fashion statement has never been easy, and it certainly gets harder during this difficult recession period. Although there is always the "refund with receipt and tag on" policy that every fashionista counts on for their pennies, having a sense of what's on trend would come in handy when 100 things are on sale and you need to decide what to pick. So, here's my 10 recommandations to make it easier: ( with a hint of my personality ^^) 1. Since the recession is already putting the grey in the air, try something in the brighter yet pastel shade colors. Think romantic evening sitting outside the deck with a table by the ocean and white wine. Pants: slouchy, harem style pants are in. Great with neutral colors. Avoid grey, save it for office suits. Tops: less structure, more free flowing. Soft fabrics. Skirts: A line with a belt. Shoes: Gladiator sandals and open toe heels are still in. I especially adore gladiator sandals. They match everything. EVERYTHNG. 2. Break out of the box and try something adventurious. Even though you might not be going on any Indiana Jones adventure, but the new Ralph Lauren Out of Africa Collection really brightens the spirit. To make each day count, make everyday an adventure. 3. My fave top fashion house: Hermes ~ the scarf patterns really catches the eye. Check their website, and remember their patterns, and visit some local second hand consignment boutiques and cross your fingers that you will find something similar. Usually you will if you look hard enough. 4. Check your mom's jewelery boxes ( with permission) and borrow her charms, brouches and goldwears instead of buying your own. ( for now) Just remember to polish them up before use. Think statement pieces. Big statement pieces. VERY BIG ones. period. 5. Pink is the new red in terms of lipstick color. Lancome is already ahead of the crowd. The La Laque Fever line is captivating beauties everywhere. 6. As for makeup, less is more. Nude looks are still very much in the trend. Mineral makeup is getting more and more popular. So put one and one together and get the : mineral nude makeup look. Visit a MAC shop or actually, the Lancome counter for a quick makeup tip session. 7. The messy hair do is THE do of the season. I am always in favor of a natural under done hair do. There is something very sexy and mystic about the "messy just out of bed" hair. Put it together with the romantic pastel fashion and you've got a new style out of the mix and match genre. For long hair, use a 1" curling iron and just randomly curl sections, spray on some hair gel, run your fingers through them, flip over your hair, and and spray some more on to hold the style somewhat. Let the natural wind do the final decision of how your hair should turn out to be. For short hair, spray the hair gel spray onto your fingers and just run them through your hair, giving it a more definite shape but not fixed, allowing them to free-flow in the natural wind or when you fling your hair. Awwww how sexy. 8. There is no time like the recession period to really seriously buy a DESIGNER bag. An obvious one as well. Louis Vuitton or Chanel is a good choice none other than the fact that their items are timeless. Think of it as an investment. A bag at $2000.00 divided into at least 40 years. The earlier you invest, the more you get out of the bargain. 9. This is also a good time to invest in a decent top line waist watch. Rolex? Sure, if the price is good. Pearl surface with scattered diamonds would go a long way. Just decide on silver or gold. Or get both. 10. Coat hangers. Yes. Not even joking. Get the good supporting ones with the shoulder pads which will not only save your garment from wedging, it has always been THE WAY your garments are suppose to be: stored away properly. Stop laying them on the floor and letting your fluffy pet friend(s) stepping all over them. Period. It is not only Canada's first ever trading company, it was also the bridge between two ethnic groups back in the Grade 10 Social Studies chapter 2, being literally named after an actual bay, and a secret shopping heaven for the younger generations of beauty queens and fashionistas. And being the Queen B of all department stores across Canada, THE BAY just couldn't wait for Christmas to arrive. And so they bought in their own. Not one, not two, but ALL locations are having a Gala on DIFFERENT dates. So unless you are not getting yourself ready for the mother of all holiday seasons, these THE BAY GALAs are a great event to attend because not only you will receive VIP treatment, there is rarely a counter that doesn't do the gift with purchase offer. ( MAC, Lancome, Estee Lauder, Elizabeth Arden, Clarins, Adrien Arpel, Wellness, Dior, Channel, Shishedo, Clinques, Biotherm, H2O, . . .they are all doing the GWP. I'm sure I missed out a couple by accident lol) Besides this one, there are other department stores that will also have their pre-Christmas galas/parties/VIP pre-show/blah blah blah. So hold your wallets, ask the sales people what will be happening, and buy it during these special events. It is also a great way to get your friend together on a fun night out by dressing up a bit and give each other a second opinion on the products that you will be purchasing. Two brains are better than one, not to mention the more the merrier. Labels: Channel, Clarins, Clinques, Dior, Estee Lauder, Lancome, Macdonald's., Shishedo, The Bay, The Hudson Bay Company |
